The ESS SPB Belt Cleaner is specifically engineered for applications in the aggregate industries. This safe, aggressive pre-cleaner will remove wet sticky fines while making blade service quick and easy. The ESS SPB Belt Cleaner is available in an efficient economical assembly including mainframe, urethane blade and tensioner.

Blade Type

The design of our modular blades ensures that they last longer and can be easily switched out or made from different materials. Constant Angle Radial Pressure (CARP) blade profile guarantees that the blade always makes even contact with the belt, providing effective and protective cleaning. 


We offer a variety of urethane types so that the blades can conform to the belt's profile and conditions.


Our patented "Keysafe" feature allows for easy removal of blades without going inside the chute, eliminating the risk of manual handling and confined space issues during maintenance. With reduced maintenance time, valuable downtime can be minimised.

Mainframe

The mainframe is available in both mild steel and stainless steel constructions, allowing for use in corrosive environments.

Tensioning Devices

Various tensioning devices are available to ensure the blade and belt maintain optimal pressure and cleaning performance. These devices also help reduce blade wear rates and prevent material from passing between the belt and blade surface. The type of tensioning device used can be customised to fit the needs of each plant. ESS tensioning devices enable continuous blade adjustment while the conveyor is running without stopping production. This allows for fine-tuning of pressure from outside the chute.

  • How does it work?

    The SPB is a conveyor belt primary cleaner. It is normally mounted on the face of the conveyor belt head pulley and is designed to peel off the thick layer of loosely adhering material that often accounts for up to 80% of carryback. 


    The SPB Primary is normally used in conjunction with at least one secondary cleaner, such as the Inline Premium Secondary Cleaner, and often with a water spraying system. The one-piece blade is made of cast urethane, with an aluminium extrusion insert for locating to the cleaner mainframe. 


    The blade is secured to the mainframe with one fixed and one removable pin. Blade replacement is quick and easy. The ESS Spring Tensioner is designed to apply the correct cleaning pressure, ensuring effective cleaning performance throughout the life of the blade. Important Points to Remember Concerning the SPB Primary are:

    • The cleaner is directional - it will only clean the belt travelling in the design direction. However, belt direction reversal will not damage or affect the cleaner. 
    • The cleaner is suitable for use on crowned head pulleys and damaged or grooved belts. The urethane blades quickly conform to the belt profile. 
    • For slow-moving belts, the cleaner should be positioned lower on the head pulley to ensure the blades are clear of the main material flow.
